Petra University has achieved excellent results in the global assessment of the websites of universities, known as the Webometrics, which is announced every six months, where the University was ranked first among the private universities of Jordan, in a recent evaluation, announced in mid-July. This has included evaluation at all levels.
Petra University has been incorporated for the first time within that global assessment in January 2010, where it was ranked the seventh at the level of governmental and private Jordanian universities.
The University has -in the recent evaluation- made a progress to the fifth place at the level of all universities in the Kingdom, and the forty place at the level of Arab Universities, which have been included in this category.
Prof. Dr. Adnan Badran, the President of the University, congratulated the Web site management in the university at such excellent results, calling for them to make more efforts to develop the site, reflective, to be able in the near future to get better results and to reach a more advanced level among Arab and international universities.
Dr. Ghassan Issa, the Dean of Faculty of Information Technology, said that the evaluation was based on several topics that are related to websites, including the size of the site in terms of the amount of content and quality, the extent the site can absorb information of university archive, and this includes the amount of relevant files uploaded on it, such as information of staff and academics. The evaluation for the abundance of scientific production relative to the number of University faculty members, in addition to the number and size of external links to the university.
